Toasted

A few days ago we went out to the collision center to look at Mason’s van, or, what was left of it. When we first saw it we kept saying, “No, no, this can’t be it!” It is completely smashed. The roof of the van on the driver side comes below the steering wheel. Everything is charred; there is no cloth left. The seats are metal coils. Looking at it convinced me that Marshall was killed immediately on impact. There is a huge dent in the passenger side, and you can see the mouth of the gas can right behind the passenger seat. I found Mason’s keys in the black pieces of burnt wood in the back. We also found a Ford emblem that must have fallen off the front of the Ford van that hit them.

The mouth to the gasoline tank is the red opening on the left,
right behind the metal frame of the seat.

It is a miracle Mason got out of there alive! I just don’t understand it! And, I was thinking: God saved Mason’s life miraculously. He could have done the same for Marshall! He could have had the van hit in a different place! Or, He could have not saved Mason, and I would have lost two brothers. But He didn’t. For some reason He wanted Marshall home at His side and He wants Mason here on earth. Marshall’s race was run; his purpose here was done. Mason and the rest of us still have life to live. God still has things He wants us to accomplish for Him. I just need to continually ask Him for the strength to do it!

Again, thank you all for your prayers and your willingness to help. Somehow, God has showed me His great love through this tragedy!

Thanks for listening.

Love,
Heidi
